Dial: gilt, central rotating alarm disc. Movm.: full plate movement, chain/fusee, 2 barrels for alarm and striking train, 2 hammers, verge escapement, two-arm iron balance without spring, florally engraved, pierced balance cock. The exceptional artistic style of this small carriage clock in more or less original condition is breathtaking – the perfectly preserved engraving on the alarm disc and in particular on the side of the case is of supreme quality. The balance cock is also a highlight of period art and design – it is not embellished with just a floral motif but has the shape of an individual, true-to-life flower head. A rare and beautiful collector’s piece! Hugues Bourgaud (1598-1664) was watchmaker in Annonay between 1635 and 1658. His son Daniel Bourgaud was born in 1641.
